Update on Wesley

We are all doing good despite the fact that I haven't been left alone yet..yikes! The hospital stay this time was so quick and the recovery I have to say was even better than the last two. I guess I'm an old pro at C-sections. By the second day, Wesley had a hard time latching on and staying on. I had them call in the lactation nurse and luckily enough we found out that he was tongue tied. He was tongue tied pretty much all the way to the tip of his tongue so he wasn't able to curl his tongue up in order to latch on. So he wasn't getting much of anything which was leaving him very fussy. The on-call pediatrician said that nobody in the hospital did that particular surgery. She was relentless and was able to get a hold of Dr. Haggerty who agreed to come to the hospital in an hour to get it fixed. Dr. Haggerty is the same doctor we used at the hospital for both Zachary and Lucas. She became our primary until her hours changed, but we still go to the practice she is in. I feel really blessed by this working out so quickly. I really disliked breastfeeding with the other two and was determined not to even breastfeed this time. A week before the c-section, I started having a hard time sticking to my plan and prayed for guidance. I knew I had to at least give it a go. I feel really blessed that I did as we might not have caught the problem or had it fixed so quickly. When we left the hospital Wesley was weighing 6lb 3oz. So it definitely set him back having the tongue issue. The doctor instructed us to supplement with formula a few feedings. We took him to the doctor again this Friday and I'm happy to say he is now 7lb 2ozHere are a few pictures from this week.

Sleepy baby...

Just has to suck that thumb..

Lucas checks on him ever so often..

Good thing babies are flexible..

I'm pretty sure I'll see this expression in the near future..ha

Almost looks like he is smiling on purpose...can't wait for that age!

I just love his little baby feet...

The big brothers ready to share all of their 'skills' with Wesley.
