Thank goodness for hard casts...

Well Zachary was able to get a cast on yesterday. Yippie! He was very excited that they had his favorite color. Now we just have to keep it dry for 6 weeks and we'll be good.

Here are some more pictures of Lucas and Zachary.

What birthday?!

I'm not sure how I knew my birthday would suck this year but I've known it for months. I just figured I would be too tired to do anything anyway so nothing was planned. Which was fine with me as the older you get the less you care. My day started out with me waking up and realizing Jason hadn't said Happy Birthday to me before he left. Zachary was getting tired of sitting in the house so we left to go to Anna's house for a bit. House to house is about all I'm willing to do with a nearly 3 week old. Everything was going fine until we heard a loud thud. At first glance, I didn't see any blood and only a small bump on his forehead. Then he told me his arm hurt and sure enough HE BROKE HIS ARM AGAIN!! It's the same arm at the same place except instead of breaking both major bones he broke only one. We took him to the Urgent Care place. He did really good and didn't really cry that much. They did have to put him under so they could reset it. It broke at a 40% angle. I'm not sure how he could have broken it again as the Orthopedic said last time that the bone would be much stronger. Definitely a question I'm going to get an answer to when I take him back to the Ortho today. Here are the pictures of the x-rays the one from 2 years ago and the one from yesterday.

Yesterday:

Luckily Lucas was asleep the whole time so I was able to hold Zachary in my lap. He really didn't cry that hard like you think he would have.

He may look awake here, but he's out cold. Ofcourse you can see me trying not to cry as the Dr. is setting his arm.

What a happy face I have on huh....

Awake and loopy. Ofcourse we brought the mask home!!

My most delicious birthday cake Anna made for me. I was just so tired at that point that I look completely crazy... Happy Birthday to me....

Twice blessed

Life at home is sort of settling in as much as it can with a 3 1/2 year old and a newborn. We definitely feel that we have been twice blessed with our sons. Even just saying "sons" still seems foreign. Zachary has adjusted just fine with Lucas being home and mama not able to do everything right then and there. It helps that he is independent and can get himself some snacks & etc. I'm healing really nicely and am able to move around freely. Sleep deprivation is getting easier to deal with. Nobody wakes up at 3am feedings, but me. Sure is boring at that time of the night. This last week we had my sister Heather & lot come down to see Lucas. It was just like 3 years ago that they had come down to see Zachary. Time does fly. Here are some pictures with the family and some new ones of Lucas.

staring hard at mama...

Here is my attempt at doing our own hospital photo. The doctors released me so randomly that the photo people didn't have a chance to come by our room. They upgraded their picture process and so it's like triple the amount we paid for Zachary's first photo. So we figured why not just try to do one ourselves. It's actually really hard to get him to look straight up...still thought these were pretty cute though.

We're Home!!

We thankfully got released from the hospital around 3pm on Wednesday. Definitely was nice to take a shower and sleep in my own bed! We are all doing great. Zachary just woke up from his nap as we were coming in the door. He was confused at first to see us home. Then he looked in the car seat and saw Lucas he was even more excited! He has been doing nothing but kissing his head, touching his fingers & etc. He has been very sweet and protective over his brother. He is ever ready to change a diaper, feed him a bottle or hold him. Even if that does change it has been nice to see Zachary interacting with him. Dogs have been somewhat of a pain. Every noise that Lucas makes they have to go check it out. They just want to lick and sniff him every chance they can get. No aggression has been shown. I honestly didn't even think about what the dogs would do. Cats ofcourse care less. Other than Ella thinking every blanket we put down is for her to lay on... We put down some of Lucas' dirty blankets & stuff for the dogs to sniff over. It seemed to calm them down a bit along with putting them on leashes. Here are a few pictures from Wed. before we left the hospital and once we got home.

I know this one is a bit dark, but I didn't want to flash him ;)

He loves to sleep all snuggled down deep..

Zachary ofcourse wanted to sit next to Lucas while watching tv. I'm sure at some point he will think that Lucas will want to watch with him too.

There is nothing like a nice warm baby to make you want to sleep too!

Zachary just didn't want to stay out of the picture so I told him to pretend he was sleeping too. With his pretending he had to start snoring and cracked us up.

2nd day at the hospital...

Lucas is doing great. He was released from NICU this morning at 11am. I am definitely happy to have him back with me. We both are de-wired now and happy. Here are some more pictures from today. Today was the first time that Zachary got to actually hold him. It lasted all of like 2 mins, but it was cute while it lasted.

Here we are this morning. Lucas didn't really want to sit still so Zachary said to him "Lucas, please stay still!"

Here he is looking at his ChaCha.

Lucas Lee Suter - Born 7:18am - 7lbs 3oz

Well the time has arrived.

Lucas Lee Suter was born this morning on 3/9/09 at 7:18am weighing 7lbs 3oz and 19 3/4 in long.

All went well, but he had to be taken to the NICU due to some issues with liquid in his lungs.

At this time he is still being taken care of at the NICU and we should be able to bring him up to our room tomorrow.

Mother and baby are doing well at this time.
Katrina is ready to go...

All dolled up...

Baby Lucas is here!

Big happy family.
Big Brother Zachary is excited to see his little baby brother.

Sleeping like a baby...

Keeping myself busy..

Well I went to my last OB visit on Monday! Yippie! Everything is looking good. I'm definitely moving slower and have to stop to take more breaks as I just can't breathe! Lucas is measuring 7lbs 8 oz. He can add another 8 oz before next Monday, but I really doubt it. I'm definitely excited to move on to the next phase. I'm not a very patient person most of the time and this last week is killing me as I knew it would. So I started a sewing project last week and as of today I finished it. I've been telling Jason for about a year that I would get it done, but just never did. I was really motivated to get it done this time as I thought he would like to have it when we go in the hospital. Here is his T-shirt quilt:

This is mine that my mom helped me complete from a few years ago. Hence the idea to do it for Jason.

And just for fun....here is the baby picture of Jason. Wasn't he cute?! Now if I could only find mine somewhere...
